Grammar

A conversation between two people.

person x: Have you been imprisoned all these years?
person y: Yes, I have/Yes, I was.

What I want to ask is, what happens when one person says something that contains present perfect, and the other person answers using past simple.
Is it okay?

Patient: Good morning, doctor! Thank you for seeing me.

Doctor: Sit down. Now, what seems to be the problem?
Patient: I've caught a cold, and I'm constantly coughing.
Doctor: Do you ha
