A contact or contact

Hello everyone,

Is the indefinite article "a" essential before "contact" in the following sentence?

- I usually have (a) contact with him.

Regards,

JA

The sentence does not seem natural with "a". It is possible without "a", but most probably it does not naturally express what you are trying to say. More context is needed.
