A confusing sentence from NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Dear all,

The following sentences are from the novel, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. I don't know the meaning of "head" here. "Gum" here means chewing gum. Does the head here mean the leader. In other words, the face of the leader is covered with chewing gum. Is my explanation correct? Thank you for your help.

Larry heard a loud'pop.' Now there was gum all over the head from Easter Island. Larry put his head in his hands . He wanted to go home.

Thanks again.
