A confusing question

She didn't do it because I was there.

there are two meaning of this sentence.
1. She did it. But the reason for doing it was not because I was there.
2. She didn't do it. And that's because I was there.

I can only think of 2. when I saw this sentence.
But how about 1.? why does this sentence also mean that (the sentence 1) ?
