A concessive clause without any inversion
A is going to somewhere with his two female friends "B and C", and B,C are way too slow to be in time.
So, A says to B,C : "I will go alone without waiting for both of you, if you don't hurry."
B says to C : "Even as he says that, he'll stop and look back at us again like always."
I think "even as he says that" means "even though he says that."
If so, I was wondering if "as~" could mean "though~" without any inversion.
