i am translator, and i translate a serial "new lassie"

sometimes even i understand every word and meaning, i might need deep meaning."

can you make comment on this dialog pleease:

Dee: oh, come on..you can not tell me you got a kick out of sitting near that elm
Chris: A kick? I got about as much behind me as i have ahead of me
Dee. Well, there is a good stuff in both directions...

yes, it is not A "I" mistake, sorry.

This is from a serial named NewLassie.

I guessed, i translated that way too (speech towards their past etc)
