A comma or colon?

Hello, while I was reading a book, I found this sentence, He commented: "She is all right, but not beautiful enough for me." And I was wondering why there is a colon. I think it is a typo and it should be a comma instead of it. What do you think?

Thank you as always in advance and have a good day.

Normally, direct speech is introduced by a comma in writing. But a long passage of direct speech may be introduced by a colon. A colon is also used when direct speech is introduced by a name or short phrase, as in the text of a play.
