Thanks. May I ask, how would the meaning of the sentence change were I to write had been created, instead of was created? Can you give me some examples of when to use had been/was. As far as I'm aware, both are conjugations of the verb to be.

Thanks.

There is no call for past perfect there. Past perfect is used for the earlier of two past actions.

Can you give me an example? Thanks!

Just google the term 'past perfect' for a full explanation and examples.

Before I do that, have I used the past perfect correctly in this sentence?

I'd been running when I fell and broke my leg.

I'd been talking to your sister, when (and) I (had) decided to kiss her cheek.

The last one I'm not totally sure of. Thanks.

If the two events are concurrent, use simple past.

So...

I was running when I fell and broke my leg.

I was talking to your sister, when I decided to kiss her cheek.

What about if I were to change the sentences a little:

I had been running until the rain had me stop.

I had been talking to your sister UNTIL your brother arrived.

BUT I can use was with WHEN:

I was talking to your sister when your brother arrived.
