a colour of the dress vs the colour of the dress

Hello, everyone.

I guess in the senteces such as "The color of the dress is pink." or "I like the color of the dress.", the number of the color is understood as one. However, If I say "A color of the dress is pink", does the sentence make no sense or do native speakers consider the dress has several colors and one of them is pink?

Thanks in advance.

If pink is one of the colours in the dress, that's how we'd probably say it. 'A colour of the dress is pink' sounds unnatural to me.
