A colonnaded porch or promenade

Hi

I have always thought of a terrace as an open area on the roof. But "1a" and "1c" suggest that even an open area of ground floor can be termed as a porch. I wanted to know if these senses are considered idiomatic. Thanks.

terrace (noun)

1 a : a colonnaded porch or promenade b : a flat roof or open platform c : a relatively level paved or planted area adjoining a building

[M-W's Col. Dic.]

I don't see any idioms here, Jackson. Maybe the word "colonnaded" bothers you? A colonnade (noun) is a row of columns supporting a roof, an entablature, or arcade.
