A change in the right direction

Are these sentences correct:

1) Maybe they have decided to spend more money on public libraries, a change in the right direction.

2) Maybe they have decided to spend more money on public libraries, a wise move.


Normally, I'd put 'which would be' after the comma, but I think these work too.
