Grammar

"a chance to ..." vs. "a chance for ...ing"

Could you please suggest which of the following expressions

is gramatically correct or, if both are correct, which is more

common?

1) a great chance to die while hunting

2) a great chance of dying while hunting

Thanks in advance.

I'd clearly prefer sentence number 1. It's more common. Wait for other opinions Alex

Hi all, A chance to do something infers an opportunity, so something positive usually. In the case of dying it sounds silly.
A chance of dying the second infers a probability , a possibility so it would be more appropriate with the verb die.
