A caution/warning/alert to all motorists

The highway sign saying "DANGER AHEAD" was a caution to all motorists.

Hi,

Is "caution" in the above equal to "warning" and "alert?" Thanks.

Hi, For danger, I'd choose a warning, because the situation seems very serious. Although for danger, I'd really expect something like 'STOP. DANGER.

  • DANGER.
  • DO NOT PROCEED'.
  • I'd say 'alert' or 'caution' for something like 'icy roads'.
