A cartoon or cartoon clip or cartoons?

Hi. Please tell me which is correct. I think we normally see a series of boxes, usually five or six, with character-drawing in each of the boxes on a newspaper that is based on humor or perhaps a joke. What would you call that? A cartoon? Cartoons? Or a cartoon clip? Thank you for your help in advance.

At least in my dialect, it would be more often called a comic strip than a cartoon strip. In my dialect, cartoon indicates either a single-panel drawing (as in political cartoon) or a traditionally-animated video.
