A campaign/the campaign

Can you have a look at the following letter and correct any mistakes?

It is an informal letter to a friend.

Dear John!
How are you doing? Sorry. I haven't written for so long. Recently, I together with my classmates have been very busy with organizing the campaign in our school. Finally, we managed to launch it. We collected money for lunches in order to help the children from poor families. As a result, we were able to buy hot meals for them. Both Peter and I were responsible for organising this charity event. I was helping to raise funds. I wrote cards, asking for help. Suddenly, an unexpected problem
occured. There was a small number of people and volunteers willing to assist us. We decided to make posters, distribute leaflets and send invitations to encourage people to participate in our action. Fortunately, all these things convinced people and encouraged them to help us. It turned out that a lot of people were interested in raising funds. We succeeded in getting 1000 euro at the end.

Looking forward to your news.

All the best,

XYZ

Thanks in advance

Shouldn't euros be capitalized?
0
1000 euros; but it is better to use the currency symbol: € 1000.

Use the English plural. And 'euros' is no more capitalized than is 'dollar' or 'peso'.
