A bunch of - count/noncount?

Hello,

Is the quantifier "a bunch of" used with count or noncount nouns? My book says count nouns, but "a bunch of candy" and "a bunch of food" sounds right.

Thanks for your help!

A bunch is a group of things, a cluster, so a plural is needed after it. CB
