A brave

Thanks for responding to my post. Please tell me if you know anything about this.

The brave die first sometimes.

Is it a proverb? If yes, what does it mean? I tried to Google it but couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks.

Soldiers who are brave go to where the fighting is the most fierce, where the action is. So they are more likely to be killed in battle. They will also risk their lives to aid a wounded buddy.
