A book

In high school, Doreswamy read My Early Life, a book that recorded Gandhi's days growing up.

Why the indefinite article "a" is used before "book"? I think the "that...growing up" makes the reference specific.

Thanks

growing up" makes the reference specific I think it only describes the subject of the book. Use of "a" is justified as there is a possibility of a few or many books on the same subject.
