A black dollop/wad

Binns sniffs. He turns his head until he's looking down over his right shoulder. His lips slide to the side of his face, the far corner of his mouth opens like a little eye and out comes a black dollop of licorice juice.

Hi,

Does "dollop" in the above amount to "wad?" Thanks.

I tend to think of both 'wad' and 'dollop' as more solid than what I think you want here: drop, dribbling.
