A bizarre plural

Hello! I'm new to this - so please be gentle with me!
I've had a look around these forums and on the internet generally, and can't seem to find the answer to my question:

- What it the plural of balti? (as in balti curry)

Instinct tells me that it's "baltis" but it just doesn't look right. "Balties" looks better, but doesn't seem right. If you see what I mean.

If you can shed any light, then I'd be grateful.

Many thanks.

To my knowledge, it's a non-count noun (it doesn't take -s), but if one had to add -s, either
?baltis or ?balties would work. Cf, another borrowing, sushi, ?sushis/?sushies.

Excellent. That really helps.

Thanks very much - much appreciated!

To me, the '-ies' plural would suggest (by back formation) a '-y' ending to the singular, so I would lean toward the simpler '-s'

baby - babies
sushi - sushis
balti - baltis

--and that's what the Oxford says (he adds belatedly):

'balti /bolti/

• noun (pl. baltis) a type of Pakistani cuisine in which the food is cooked in a small two
