A bit

Hi teachers,

Arthur drives a bit faster than Deborah does.

In the above sentence 'a bit' is an adverb, isn't it?

Can the meaning of 'a bit' be 'a little'?

Can the meaning of 'a bit faster' be 'a little more rapidly'?

Thanks in advance

Yes to both questions. Many people will say "a little bit", seems to me that "a bit" is an abbreviation of that.
