A better word here?

I think that the word "condone" here should be replaced with "suggest":

" While I don’t condone a stressful lifestyle for high school students, I do believe that there are times when our parents are looking out for our best interest–and this is one of them."

for which "condone", as suggested by the dictionary, means to tolerate, put up with or simply to overlook.
