A baseball game

Hello

I wonder which article to use in this sentence, "a" or "the."

#1 Last night I watched a baseball game on TV instead of studying.

Should I use "the baseball game" because "baseball game" is restricted by" Last night"?

Thank you.

This would really depend on the game! If it was any old game that happened to be on TV, and you couldn't be bothered to study so were easily distracted, it would be 'a' game. If it was a really important game you planned to watch even though you should have been studying, it would be 'the' game.

"game" is also restricted by "on TV", but that doesn't make any difference either.

You have a choice. You can use "the" or "a".

If you use "the", you are presenting the situation as if you believe the addressee understands which game you are referring to (Perhaps you've already discussed this particular game with the addressee before it was even played.), or is to understand
