Now I understand those two sentences below are almost same.
Then, how about these?
1. Most mothers want bathe a baby themselves.
2. Most mothers want bathe their baby themselves.
3. Most mothers want bathe their babies themselves.

Hi,
please correct this sentence.
Most mothers want to bathe a tiny baby herself, rather than have someone else do it.
1. [The answer given]
Most mothers want to bathe a tiny baby themselves, ...
2. [My answer]
Most mothers want to bathe tiny babies themselves, ...
I feel in the sentense 1 many mothers who were deprived of their babies try to care one baby which is not theirs. Am I wrong? That would only have the meaning you describe in some very odd and specific context. Other than in such a strange context, there is nor real difference intended in 1 and 2. Both are commonly said.
