83rd VS 83th!!

Hi everyone. I was just watching this animated film, "Anne of Green gables" and this particular scene caught my eye.

there was a banner and it read: "Welcome to the 83th exhibition"

isn't it suppossed to be the 83rd instead of the 83th??? is this some kind of typo or was this way also allowed at that time? (early 1900's, Canada)

if they used it also as the 83th, how do i pronounce this? Emotion: stick out tongue

Hi, I think it was just a mistake. Perhaps it was intentional, to indicate that the writer of the banner was not well-educated? Best wishes, Clive

Hi,
It's probably an error by the Japanese film makers.
