Vocabulary

$788.30

Hi,

How should I read this number?

1) I would say, seven hundreds and eighty eight US dollars and thirty cents. --- Correct?

2) However in an American movie, I found a guy read it out as " Seven eighty eight thirty".--- Is this most Americans /native speakers would say in real life?

What if "$ 1788"? Is it "seventeen, eighty eight"? I guess it should be read like the year 2018, twenty, eighteen"?

Thanks!

Delete s from hundred.

In American English people don't generally say "and" after the hundred. It is included in British English.
