There's a bus every half an hour. One at five after six, one at five thirty-five, then another at five after seven... you know, every half an hour.

i can say: The bus come at six and five minutes, and then every half an hour.

I'd say 'there is a bus at five past and thirty-five past every hour'.

five past six = 6:05, forty-three past nine = 9:43 = seventeen minutes to ten

they are just different expressions for the same meaning.
