--- "Came courtesy" does it mean "thanks to". I received my education thanks to St. Andrew's.....???

--- Does it mean that there were completely different hooligans in the school and the author had to be prepared to deal with them?
3. I think he was a little disappointed that I wasn't academically-minded and wasn't arsed about sport.
--- Does it mean that he wasn't crazy about sports?
4. He was one of those really bright, smart kids who came from ver little.
--- I think it mean they were very poor.
5. They had spent a fortune on piano lessons, so they said if I wanted to learn how to play the drums I had to finance it myself. So I did. It was nine pounds a term.
---I know there are terms at school, but in this case I'm not sure if it means the same.
