5 minutes

Hi,

Say, when you are waiting for a pizza in a pizza hot, and you were told it's going to take about 5minutes. (By the way, here, because you were told in the past, does it have to be "it was going to..."?)

But say, you have been waiting for more 10 minutes.

I don't like it and you are going to say that you have been waiting for more than 5 minutes.

How would you say that? ( I mean not "I have been waiting for more than 5minutes")

Do you say like, "5 minute has already passed" or "it's been over 5 minutes"?

Thanks in advance.

When a customer is told, "It's going to take about five minutes," the phrase is meant in a very generalized way to be interpreted as: "in a very short while". Probably the next milestone of a 'short while' is ten minutes. So at the ten-minute mark, it would not be impolite to inquire, "It's been well over five minutes.

  • " If the person behind the counter has already told you twice in the last ten minutes that it will take about five more minutes, I suppose you might be justified in thinking that your pizza might not be ready for another month.
