4 complicated question, don't have the right VOCAB?

Please help me correct these sentences. I'm not sure how to express them?

1 The hot plate has more levels, its on at the max and the water still hasn't come to a boil.

is level the right word for HOT PLATES that go from 1 to 5. temperature?

?2 This AVI movie file has 10 anchors throughout the movie, meaning you can't go back to any part of/in the movie you but to 10 different part where the file has been anchored. (I don't think the word is ANCHORED?) does this make any sense to you?`

?3 I'm making sure the house is clean when he gets here/for when he gets here. which would you say? Can you leave in FOR?

4 The resolution of the screen from close up is bad/ The episode ends with him seeing his daughter walking towards him from a distance. is it FROM or AT a distance?

Thank you
