4 complex sentences need help properly writing please

Could you please help me correct these 4 sentences?

- Circumstances make a person the person they are today, had life gone differently for them they wouldn't be the person they are today.

- You'll regret it either way, but the question is which will you regret less. You'll regret not say bye more than you'll regret not going to see her at all.

- What I didn't know was how much part of your life soccer really was.

- I can't stand the smell my hands have/the smell of my hands after cooking. I could have let you do the cooking.

The only problem is with the first sentence, and native speakers aren't always sure what to do with the situation. We had "a person", but we do not have a neuter pronoun to go with it, as you do in French. The easiest "fix" is to make 'person' the plural 'people'.
