Hi Umarkhan. Yes, I've definitely heard them referred to like that (although I've also heard "past tense" referred to as "past simple"). I once got observed by a manager who told me I should never use confusing terminology like "base form" and "past participle" and should say 1st, 2nd and 3rd form instead as it is easier for students to understand.

Oops - sorry!

I did try using those expressions with my students a few times (I'll grant you that they do sound much more simple), but half the class just said "Do you mean the past participle?". So, as they already seemed to know the complicated words from their grammar books, I thought I might as well go back to them. I might try again with fresh students one day!

I take my lunch everyday around 12:20 . Take = Present tense.

I took my lunch about 12:30 yesterday. Took = past tense, no need to say " simple past".

I have taken the same train to work for the past 6 months. Taken = past partic
