3rd conditional

Hi all,

I want to make third conditional sentence from this two facts:
- I didn't know that my grandmother was sick.
- I didn't visit her.

which one is correct:
- If I had known that my grandmother had been sick, I would have visited her.
or
- If I had known that my grandmother was sick, I would have visited her.

If I had known that my grandmother was sick, I would have visited her. We do not use past perfect in the subordinate clause
