"3/4 that of the male's" is correct, if not, is "3/4 that of the male correct?

The American Marten (Martes Americana) is a small member of the weasels, and they are also known as "pine" martens, because they are similar in some ways with their European cousins. The fur of the American Marten is soft, their throats are light buff, and they have dark shaded tails/legs. Akin to the other kinds of weasels, the size depends on the gender, the female is approximately 3/4 that of the male's.

In the passage above, I wonder if the phrase of "3/4 that of the male's" is correct, if not, is "3/4 that of the male correct?

I aslo would like to know the reason for the correct one.

And, one more thing, what kinds of category of grammar I need to look up to solve this kinds of questions?

I would have asked the author to accept the following edits:

"Like other kinds of weasels, size indicates gender. Females are approximately 25% smaller than males."

Why is the original correct? B
