3 weird sentences please help me with the grammar

Could someone help me with the grammar in the following sentences?

1 If she were to kill the spider with a shoe, that would mean that she would havbe to get too close to it. She wants something that allows her to kill it at/from a distance like a broom which is long.

2 If you don't do what i say, everything will have been in vain; his death will have been in vain.

3 Drink the water as it melts, you'll likely drink all of it by the times the ice cube is melted/you'll be likely to drink it by the times it's melted.

4 The timeline of this movie is a little confusing as there is a storyline that takes place in the past and one in the future. We the audience don't knoww when and where one storyline is/takes place in relation to the other. Whether one is 3 years in the past in relation to the other or if its 3 years in the future in elation to the other.

Thanks

What I wanted to know for the las one was the "in relation" part

We the audience don't know when and where one storyline is/takes place in relation to the other. Whether one is 3 years in the past in relation to the other or if its 3 years in the future in relation to the other.

can you tell me how to say the bold bit without

There is no good way of doing so. As I said before, your sentences are rambling examples of spoken English, and I refuse to fiddle about with them in an effort to make them work.

and would it be "the storyline is/takes place in relation to"
