3 questions

Hi. I have 3 questions.



1. “Save your energy,” Ned said. He could also have said “Shut up” and I

wouldn’t have held it against him. --- I don't understand that last part? Does it mean "I wouldn't stop him from saying that?"



2. “Look, Dad—don’t feel pressured to be profound with your dying

words. Just take it easy.” --- Does it mean "Dad don't try to say anything clever and profound at the time when you're dying, just say simple words?"





3. “You father never understood what it’s like to be part of something bigger

than himself.”

That shit me. “People always say, ‘It’s good to be a part of a thing bigger

than myself,’ but
You already are. You were part of a huge thing.

The

whole of humanity.

That’s enormous really. But you couldn’t see it, so you

picked, what? An organization? A nation? A culture? A religion? That’s

not bigger than you. It’s much, much smaller!”

I didn’t really say this. I just thought it.

--- Does it mean "it pissed me off"?
