3 months'?

In the UK, the National Trust has an advertisement that says: "3 months' free membership".

Should the apostrophe be there?

It's correct, but it is increasingly dropped these days.

Thanks.

So, "he gave me a 1 day free pass", should really be "he gave me a 1 day's free pass"?

(I'm sure I've punctuated all that wrong, but I hope you get what I mean. I seem to have missed school the day they went over all this stuff.)

No. It should be a one-day free pass.

You can have three months' membership or three-month membership.
