Hi, I would love to know why the following sentence sounds wrong or weird although it is grammatically correct according to the English Grammar books:

"If I did exercise later, it would be on the treadmill." (past tense/ would verbal form).

If I were you, I would + (verb) Here you are giving an example of what decision YOU would do given the circumstances. This can be in past tense or in a conditional present. ... By adding 'have' after the word 'would' you are talking about something in the past tense.

Second conditionalTime: present; the TENSE is past, but we are talking about the present, now. e.g. If I knew her name, I would tell you. If I were you, I would tell my father.
