I read this sentence in a British aviation magazine: Once clearance was received from air traffic control, the two Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 turbofans roared into life and we accelerated down the runway, becoming airborne at 2226hrs.
I have no idea how to pronounce 2226hrs. Certainly not two thousand two hundred and twenty-six hours? ?? Please enlighten me.

PS The logic of this site insists on a capital H in the heading. I cannot change it.
I would say twenty-two twenty-six hours . or just twenty-two twenty-six . But perhaps someone with a more technical background will comment further.
