22-year veteran

Hi,

It's from The Guardian: "Twenty million rupees, maximum," said property dealer Muhammad Anwar, a 22-year veteran of the local market, at his Abbottabad office."

My question is: does the veteran is a 22-year old gentleman (which sounds strange) or an older one with a 22-year experience in the property dealing?

Thank you.

Hi,

He has 22 years of experience in the local market.

If he were 22 years old, it would say it this way: ... said property dealer Muhammad Anwar, a 22-year-old veteran of the local market, at his Abbottabad office.

Or this way: said property dealer Muhammad Anwar, 22, a veteran of the local market, at his Abbottabad office.

The latter two examples don't say how
