2153

2153

It's the year 2153, humans changed a lot... I'm writing this book because I have a feeling that our ending is so close. Maybe no one will read it, maybe it will be burned or torn into pieces... and maybe it could survive until someone finds it and reads it.

Today, human beings no longer believe in death or care about it... Today people are just living forever. What happened to birth and death? In fact, in 2131, Retina Science introduced in collaboration with the US government a way to digitalize peoples' minds.

A research team has discovered a way to extract experiences, feelings and everything a human has done and convert all of these informations to digital data that a computer can understand. And since then, companies put a lot of money and efforts to let computers communicate with the human mind. Inventions began to show up: They first invented electronic body part helping handicapped people to “fix” their bodies. Electronic-eyes, electronic-ears, electronic-legs and other electronic-organs replaced the real organs of disabled people. These inventions helped people a lot as interacting with the organs was so easy. In fact, to move your electrical-leg you just have to think of it.

But the technology began to go in the wrong way by the year 2134 when a small company introduced a full human body made of electronics! The idea made a lot of people happy and scared only a few. The concept was to quickly save a dead human's mind in a digital format as the mind stays working for some minutes after someone is dead. After having a copy of the client's brain, the informations were put into the artificial body so that he can live forever! The process is very costly but nowadays, people are saving money to get that operation done when they die.

As I said, this idea scared a few, and I am one of the people who refuse it, but why should people be afraid of this idea? And why should brain transplantation be stopped at the moment? The answer is very easy, just think about it. Imagine that everybody would live forever, imagine that everybody would have a metal body... Reproduction will someday stop if we continue living forever in electronic bodies, and when reproduction stops, human beings will extinct. We are really afraid that “the day” is coming soon...

I started acting fast, I've assembled a group of people having the same point of view as me and we're now trying to convince people through TVs, social networks and by talking to the government about our point of view. We hope that brain-transplanting will stop soon...

Can you please correct this essay?
