2 Verbs on An Object = Is or Are?

Hi all, my question is as followed:

Love and forgive our enemies is the only way to happiness.

or

Love and forgive our enemies are the only way to happiness.

These are two verbs not nouns; should the following verbs be singular or plural form? Thank you.
