2 situations I'm having trouble expressing please help

Could you please help me express these 2 situations

1
The situation: Lets say my sister has taken me in for a couple of months. I usually I don't feel at home there. but when there are guests over I feel more at home. Would the following make sense?
  • I feel more at home I'm around people that don't know the owner of the house as much as me than when you're alone with her.
  • Alone with her I don't feel as much at home as when she has people over who don't know the owner of the house as much as me.
2
The situation: Talking about a TV show. If the events on the show occur in real time meaning one hour on the show equal one hour in real time but not exactly as an episode is 45 minutes long and one episode equals one hour in real time. There is a timer at the bottom of the screen.
How would you say the following:
  • Every 15 minutes of show time, the show fast-forwards 5 minutes to make up for the 15 minutes that are missing. So at 15 minutes, the timer appears full screen and goes from, for example, 5:15pm to 5:20pm and at 5:40 to 5:45. That way by the time the timer hits the hour, you'll have been watching for 45 minutes but in reality it's an hour.
What's the difference between these please?

1 She walked in the room right after I lit the cigarette/right when I lit the cig.

Hi alc24, I think this is a great way to ask questions. Here's what I'd say: #1: I feel more at home around people who don't know the owner of the house as well as me than I do when I'm alone with her. I don't feel as comfortable alone with her as I do when she has people over who aren't as close to her as I am.

  • #2: I think you did a great job of explaining this situation.
  • #3: "Right after" is a little bit later than "right when" you lit the cigarette.
