2 sentences - grammar

Hi

Is everything OK with these two sentences:

1. I've been fixing this car since the very morning and I'm all in now.

2.They called off the match because one of the players had a car accident.

Can I link "call off" with any noun, e.g. call of a concert, a play etc.

'Any noun'? No - only a prearranged function or event.

You can call off a concert, a play, a wedding, a fete etc, but not a death, a birth, a window or a piano.
