1) Is one of these correct and the other incorrect? Why?My wife and I will go to  for two weeks.My wife and are going to  for two weeks.2)This sentence feels awkward.  Please help by suggesting revisions.When I recall the past days in engaging research of metal forming, there are two matters having important significance in my life: one is acquaintance with Prof. T. Altan in 1986, the other is acquaintance with you (referring to my Japanese friend) in 1990.Thank you.

My wife and I will go to New Jersey for two weeks.

My wife and are going to New Jersey for two weeks.

Both are correct in suitable contexts.

But if you simply walk into a room and start speaking, use version #2.

When I recall the past days in engaging research of metal forming, there are two matters having important significance in my life: one is acquaintance with Prof. T. Altan in 1986, the other is

acquaintance with you (referring to my Japanese friend) in 1990.

When I recall these years of research into metal forming, I feel that two events have great significance to me. One is meeting Prof. T. Altan in 1986. The other is meeting you in 1990.
