2 sentences

Hi

I have some problems with understanding the sentences below:

The I-Ching is an ancient Chinese oracle, based on the significance of "chance" aspects of one's life. To the Chinese, the chance of a moment reveals the nature of a condition in its totality.

--- I understand the 1st part of the 1st sentence, and I'm trying to figure out the rest of it.

I take it to mean: The I-Ching is an ancient Chinese oracle in which the aspects of chance in people's life are important. Does "chance" here mean "coincidence"?

As for the 2nd one: To the Chinese the coincidence (chance) in the given moment reveals the nature of one's whole life.

Maybe some paraphrasing, if it's possible, would help?

Thanks

Hi, Part of the problem here is that this text isn't that well-written. Where did you find it? I've always understood an oracle to be a person who can predict the future.
