2 quick questions need help please?

Could you tell me if these sentences sound natural? and how you would say them please?

1 Keep the computer on. It keeps the room lit. (the light from the screen provides light instead of turning the lights on.

Is the sentence correct "keep the room lit" and is the bold part grammatical since I used LIGHT twice?

2 It sounded funny, the way he said it. /the way he said it sounded funny.

This is correct but very simple. It might be better to combine the two sentence into one. This would strengthen the argument of the sentences. For example: "I keep the computer on to help light the room." Or "Please leave the computer on since we use it to light the room."
