2 Questions on 1 Sentence

This is my sentence: "Because for all their good manners, they are a sly and underhanded group indeed: they make deals behind each other's back; they look out for their own interests and not those of the state's; they've even rigged a few elections."

Question 1: Is the first word after the colon supposed to be capitalized: "They make deals …"

I don't think so, but …

And question 2: Obviously you don't know the preceding sentence, but did I use "indeed" correctly there? Thanks!
