2 Questions

First question.
- "You should have done it" OR "you should've done it" - both of these are correct, right?
But what about the following two?
- "You should have the money now" OR "you should've the money now" - here I have used the exact same contraction but it doesn't seem correct, can anyone explain why?

Second question.
I know that "should have" is the correct term but many people get this wrong and replace it with "should of". This really bugs me and I always tell them off for it but when asked the question "why?", I find it difficult to explain exactly why it's wrong. Can anyone help with this?

  • only when have is an auxiliary verb, forming the present perfect.
