Our Young People Do Not Know What to Think About Truth

More than half of our church young people agree that there is

such a thing as truth under some conditions. If the question is

asked in a different way, though, they change their minds. For

example, most of them will say that the Bible clearly teaches

truth about some things. Then they say that people cannot really

understand the meaning of truth.

Seven of the questions we asked the young people were about

general rules of truth and how to put truth to work in their lives.

The answers the young people gave clearly show that they do

not accept what the Bible teaches in those areas. Only one in ten

of the young people always agreed with the Bible.

1. I understand that some young people claim that truth exists, but only when certain conditions are met?

2. "how to put truth to work in their lives" - I'm not sure I understand it, can you rephrase it?

Thanks

Newguest 1. I understand that some young people claim that truth exists, but only when certain conditions are met? That's kind of what it says, but "agree" is somewhat different from "claim".

  • I understand that some young people claim that truth exists, but only when certain conditions are met?

  • "claim" is stronger and suggests that you have originated an idea, or are at least an active proponent of it.
  • "agree" usually means that you have been prompted for a response (and may not feel particularly strongly one way or the other, or, as seems possible in this case, not even really understand the question).
